Upon reading my last post I noticed a typo it is 100 billion not 800 billion. Sorry.
80 of the top 100 American based corporations pay $0 annually in taxes costing America about 800 billion dollars a year and that’s just the corporations. The top 1% holds more wealth then the entire lower 50. That is 400 people vs. 155,900,000. In 1950 (America’s most prosperous decade) the wealthiest, paid upwards to 90% in taxes. After Reagan’s tax holidays, bush cutting further, and Obama continuing these breaks, the wealthiest pay as little as 0-15%.
Taking money from public works as teachers, police, firefighters, as well as the poorest Americans is immoral cruel and doesn’t amount to anything as the numbers in the original email show.
America has existed in debt for nearly 100 years, annually the gov’t votes to raise the ceiling with both parties voting in favor on the floors of congress with no media coverage. It was not until this year that a epic over statement was made about this normal happening. This attack was simply made to make Obama look bad (which in my opinion he does fine himself) in an attempt by the corporate media and the GOP to take back the coveted seat in the executive branch.
Our democracy has been hijacked by the corporate elite who buy politician (check campaign donations and the career paths of many politician. Much who have sat in executive positions on the corporations who get these breaks. Hmm) and bend their policies, not in the needs of the constituents, but to that of their own profit and gains. Our democracy is now ruled not by the will of the people, but by a wealthy ruling class i.e. Plutocracy not Democracy.
Many may not realize the influence these corporations have on government. Our system works on the basis of checks and balances. With no regulation on the new corporate power our system breaks down. Corporations need not regulate themselves this is un-American and goes against the simple checks and balances our system was built upon.
We must take back our republic by first evening the playing field. Corporations must pay taxes to operate in America. The wealthy must pay equal percentages in taxes as the rest of Americans. Campaign reforms must be made to limit donations and regulate groups who launder donations to candidates.
We live in a great nation with a short but beautiful history. We have had some bumps along the way but society has adapted to continue to thrive as a society. These problems need not persist and must be fixed. Call your representative, tell your friends and family, and by all means join us in the street as we use our 1st amendment right of peacefully assembly to show out support for these changes. America is great and can remain that way, but we need you help. Please join the fight for a great America.
